Engagements

What this group takes on, what it refuses, and what working with it actually looks like.

What the group does

How an engagement runs

1. A question, not a brief

The first exchange establishes what is actually being asked. If the request is a conclusion rather than a question, it ends here, and it ends quickly.

2. Scope and cost up front

What will be examined, what cannot be, and what it costs. Where a recording will not settle the question, that is said before any money changes hands rather than discovered at the end.

3. The work

Method and intermediate outputs are documented as it goes, so the reasoning can be followed and challenged rather than taken on trust.

4. The finding, whatever it is

Reported as readily when it is unhelpful to you as when it is not. That symmetry is the only thing that makes the helpful findings worth anything.

Two things worth knowing before you write

The refusals are published. What we decline lists the work this group turns down and why, including the profitable kinds. It is the fastest way to tell whether this is the right place before either of us spends time.

The group publishes its own failures. The editorial channel has written up a revenue model built on a channel that turned out not to exist, and a parser that silently corrupted most of its output. If a group only ever publishes its wins, you are reading marketing.

Reaching the group
